Our best-selling HandleEasy is an award-winning universal remote control designed specifically for people who have limited dexterity and find technology confusing, this makes it a very useful TV remote control for elderly individuals.

It is very easy to grip and has large buttons for changing channels and adjusting the volume of your TV or set-top box.

This remote control is ideal for people with Alzheimer's and Dementia as it performs all of the functions required for a standard television, without many of the unnecessary and potentially confusing buttons.

Switch from 2 controllers, to a single remote

The HandleEasy can learn commands from multiple devices. For example, it can be programmed to control the channels of your external freeview box, whilst also controlling the volume of your television.

This can remove the need for having 2 remote controls, which can be confusing for some elderly individuals.

Sky/Virgin Customers

For Sky/Virgin customers we highly recommend our Flipper Remote Control, due to it's unique Favourites Function.

When using the HandleEasy with Sky or Virgin you can only skip through channels one at a time, this can be very time consuming when wanting to watch a channel far away from your current one.

The Flipper Remote Control allows you to save a list of favourite channels, this way you can cycle between your channels (up to 25) quickly & easily.

Compatibility

  • Compatible with most major set-top boxes & televisions sold in the UK
  • Compatible with built-in freeview
  • Compatible with Sky
  • Compatible with Virgin

AlzProducts Compatibility Guarantee

We find that the HandleEasy typically has a 97% + compatibility success rate.

If you do have any problems when programming your HandleEasy with your television or set-top box, we shall refund your original order cost in full - including delivery costs.

How to program your HandleEasy

The HandleEasy remote control does come with instructions and is relatively straight-forward to program. It usually only takes 5-15 minutes.

If you experience any problems with programming your remote control, our sales team are more than willing to guide you through the programming procedure step-by-step on our sales-line.

Requirements

  • An existing (fully functional) remote control for your television

The HandleEasy is a "learning" remote control, consequently you will need an existing remote control to program the HandleEasy.

If you have lost your remote control, the Flipper may be a suitable replacement.

Unfortunately we cannot take verbal VAT declarations, this means you have two options:

  1. We charge the full amount (including VAT) but dispatch a VAT Relief Declaration with your order, once you complete & return the declaration we will then refund your VAT
  2. You call us & request for a VAT Relief Declaration to be sent to you (either via email, or postal mail), once this is returned & completed we can then call you to take your order with VAT Relief included

TV Remote Control for Elderly

The remote learned the signals from the TV remote quick and easy.

It didn't learn the signals from the cable box where you switch between channels.

The 321Rc is therefore useless for the purpose I aimed for, which was making things a bit easyer for my mother.

We found this great product on the website, perfect for my Nan who just needs a volume control, channel changer and on/off button to work her new telly, the Alzproduct fitted the bill.

Thanks for your quick service in providing an easy to use product for my mum. Technology has it's advantages but the world has got mad with it. I'm a self employed electrical engineer and even I struggle to understand some things. When I repair something it looks really bad when even I need the instruction book just to get the thing to run. Stop the world I want to get off.
Keep up the good work.

Excellent Product
Sunday, 20 April 2014  |  Clive

As other reviewers have said, just spend a few minutes reading and fully understanding the few set-up instructions. Having done that, it was very quick and easy to tune to the existing remote and everything was up and working perfectly within 5 minutes. I don't know if I was lucky but I then found that it operated both TVs in the house. The person it was for, a 93 year old, grasped the use of it straight away and has had no problems since, whereas she simply couldn't see or understand the remote that came with the TV. Excellent product - thoroughly recommended.

My mother was continuously getting in a muddle with the TV remote as her dementa progressed, to the point where she forgot how to use it and even when set up so it just needed a one button press, the wrong buttons would be pressed and all hell would break loose.

This simple on/off + high/low volume + channel change remote has meant she can now use her TV again. So far so good anyway.

Nothing short of a godsend. Easy to use and explain. Tuning with TV took less than 10 mins. It helps if you read the instructions properly first. I didn't otherwise it would have taken 5 mins. Delivery arrived bang on time. Thanks.

I brought this 'simple' remote for my Mum who's 81 and was really struggling with the normal TV remote, its funny but the remote is never seen until after you buy a TV yet its the greatest and most frequently used tool for Human computer interaction that there is but you do not know what you will get until you open the box!

The ALZ remote was simple to set up, by me and Mum has now used it for just 4 days but tells me its great. The need to scroll through each channel rather than use the EPG service is a small loss to the ease at which she uses the remote now so I doubt I will get any more calls saying the TV's not working.

Purchased for my mother who like most of us was confused with all the buttons on the two remotes. With the extra instructions managed to set it up fairly easily. Only minor crib it that we still have to use the main TV remote to switch it on, then the HandleEasy can be used for all main functions.

excellent but for 1 thing. If your existing remotes can only select a channel with 3 digits it makes it impossible to set the 321RC to a default channel for when the users gets lost on the up and down buttons

Remote itself is excellent BUT the instructions are AWFUL!! Please, please translate to non-technical language. No way could I interpret it, no dementia person could ever, and neither could I manage with those instructions. My husband is an engineer, he managed after some false starts. Just so not clear. Please change them.

Great product which has given my mother back the ability to use her TV after dad passed away. He had sky (we have now cancelled) and remote was way too complicated for mum. Now she has free view and this remote and can enjoy her programmes again. I was so pleased when she told me she watched the film Mama Mia and enjoyed it! Have only given 4 stars though as I had to tape over the button that's not used as it confused her at first.

Very good-perhaps letters for vol. and controls could have been larger (like" on and off" ). Our grandson set it up for my husband who has dementia and after first couple of days he was able to use it himself.Made my life easier --he stopped using the original remote which had so many small buttons he would keep loosing programmes and I would have to struggle to get the TV back to normal, not knowing which buttons he'd pressed!!Many thanks for your product.

This is now programmed for the satellite box and TV channels. We couldn't get it to switch on the TV as well but Mum is coping with this. Learning how to change channels is proving difficult but Mum was having greater problems with standard remore control. Overall this has been a success although having numbers ie 1 for BBC1 etc woudl be even better.

Problem not solved!
Thursday, 4 April 2013  |  Janet

I bought this for my mum who has dementia. She is baffled by the L/R arrow buttons and I average 4 calls per day because she has managed to get herself onto a radio channel. She also asks the staff at her sheltered housing to sort it for her on numerous occasions. I thought it was the answer, but I'm afraid it's not.

AlzProducts Response:

Hello Janet.

This is Tom from AlzProducts, I'm sorry that you are having problems with your HandleEasy remote control.

With regards to your Mum accessing the radio channels by accident, you may want to have a look at our recent blog post on temporarily removing channels from your digital television:

http://www.alzproducts.co.uk/blog/how-to-delete-unwanted-tv-channels.html

Unfortunately there is not much we can do to help with the buttons on the HandleEasy. The only thing we can offer is a refund for your remote control if you believe that it is not much more useful than your previous remote.

I shall email you & we can discuss this further.

Easiest TV Remote Control

This simplicity of this control has put an end to the constant calls from my mother saying she has lost her TV programmes.

As even us more able younger generation also get tired of navigating the numerous buttons, and the need for two separate controls, we all want one also!

Although my mum has been diagnosed with late-onset Alzheimers, I was looking everywhere for a control like this and conicidentally found it on the Alzheimer's web site although it can be purchased elsewhere.

Bought this for my mother in law who simply cannot understand the multitude of remotes we all have and had restricted herself to one channel for fear of getting it wrong. It programmed really easily using the instructions provided (plus the additional notes supplied by ADP too) I set some buttons from one remote and some from another which caused it no difficulty. She has used it since and is now confident on the main channels...great product.

HandleEasy321RC remote control for the elderly
Friday, 4 January 2013  |  Judy

Generally pleased. Good to hold and easy buttons to use. Company dispatched quickly, despite Christmas period, and kindly refunded some of the delivery charge becuas of combining another order.
But - the device was not straightforward to programme. It took a long time for the new device to respond and read the signals from our old remote. (We still can't get the 'off' button to receive a signal, so the 'on' button has to do both! Another drawback is that you never know which channel you're on. Sometimes my mother carries on pressing the 'channel up' button, gets to high numbers, and then can't get back to the first channels without having to keep pressing the 'channel down' button loads of times.

My Mum who is 91 with poor eyesight and co-ordination is absolutely thrilled that she can now change channels, adjust volume and turn on and off with just one remote that has large buttons, instead of the two remotes she had which both had small buttons and was very confusing. This is a God send. Thank you.

Tuesday, 25 December 2012  |  Jeannette

I found it hard to programme at first but managed it in the end. My husband does understand how to turn it on and off but does not understand the arrows mean backwards and forwards,. It would have been better if it had had numerical keyboard as he understands BBC 1 is 1 etc. So we have stopped using it, and reverted back to old remote which still causes great confusion. The principle is good but as my title says it all depends how ill the user is

I would like to thank you for your assistance in purchasing the remote control for my mum. I ordered it on Monday and had received it the same week. The service and advice you gave was excellent. For your own records, we have UPC in Ireland and yes the remote is compatiable, double signal a bit of a pain but up and running. My mums careworkers were very impressed and have taken the details of your site as they work with other people who would benefit from your products.
