Q: Is the HandleEasy Remote Control compatible with my *insert brand or model of television here*?

Unfortunately there isn't a complete list of compatible brands & television models for the HandleEasy remote control. This is due to the HandleEasy being designed to work with every brand & every television, whereas many universal remote controls are only set to work with certain television brands.

This means that the HandleEasy is compatible with more brands & televisions than most universal remote controls, however there may be occasions where there is compatibility issues with the HandleEasy & your television.

At AlzProducts, we do offer a compatibility guarantee. This means that if the HandleEasy isn't compatible with your television or set-top box, we will refund your order in full, including your original delivery charge.

VAT Relief Eligible

Our best-selling HandleEasy is an award-winning universal remote control designed specifically for people who have limited dexterity and find technology confusing, this makes it a very useful TV remote control for elderly individuals.

It is very easy to grip and has large buttons for changing channels and adjusting the volume of your TV or set-top box.

This remote control is ideal for people with Alzheimer's and Dementia as it performs all of the functions required for a standard television, without many of the unnecessary and potentially confusing buttons.

Switch from 2 controllers, to a single remote

The HandleEasy can learn commands from multiple devices. For example, it can be programmed to control the channels of your external freeview box, whilst also controlling the volume of your television.

This can remove the need for having 2 remote controls, which can be confusing for some elderly individuals.

Sky/Virgin Customers

For Sky/Virgin customers we highly recommend our Flipper Remote Control, due to it's unique Favourites Function.

When using the HandleEasy with Sky or Virgin you can only skip through channels one at a time, this can be very time consuming when wanting to watch a channel far away from your current one.

The Flipper Remote Control allows you to save a list of favourite channels, this way you can cycle between your channels (up to 25) quickly & easily.

Compatibility

  • Compatible with most major set-top boxes & televisions sold in the UK
  • Compatible with built-in freeview
  • Compatible with Sky
  • Compatible with Virgin

AlzProducts Compatibility Guarantee

We find that the HandleEasy typically has a 97% + compatibility success rate.

If you do have any problems when programming your HandleEasy with your television or set-top box, we shall refund your original order cost in full - including delivery costs.

How to program your HandleEasy

The HandleEasy remote control does come with instructions and is relatively straight-forward to program. It usually only take a matter of minutes.

If you experience any problems with programming your remote control, our sales team are more than willing to guide you through the programming procedure step-by-step on our sales-line.

Why doesn't this product qualify for VAT Relief?

Unfortunately many of our products are not eligible for VAT Relief, this is due to strict regulations from HMRC.

A product is only eligible for VAT Relief if it was "designed & manufactured solely for use by the disabled".

This means that products that fall into the following categories are not eligible for VAT Relief.

  • Products that were originally designed & manufactured for any other reason other than to help the disabled, even if they are now commonly used by people with disabilities
  • Any product that was designed for use by both disabled & non-disabled individuals

What is VAT Relief for the disabled?

VAT Relief for the disabled is a government scheme that allows the zero-rating of VAT on certain goods if conditions are met.

If you are chronically disabled (criteria below), you will be able to purchase any eligible products on our website VAT free.

How do I place an order & claim VAT Relief?

Via our website:

  • Add any products that you would like to buy to your basket
  • View your basket
  • Tick any boxes that say "I (or the person I'm buying for)  qualifies for VAT Relief for the disabled
  • VAT will be removed from any of the qualifying products

Finally, we will then ask you for the necessary information during the checkout procedure.

Via Telephone

Orders can be placed via telephone with VAT Relief, however it will be a longer process.

Unfortunately we cannot take verbal VAT declarations, this means you have two options:

  1. We charge the full amount (including VAT) but dispatch a VAT Relief Declaration with your order, once you complete & return the declaration we will then refund your VAT
  2. You call us & request for a VAT Relief Declaration to be sent to you (either via email, or postal mail), once this is returned & completed we can then call you to take your order with VAT Relief included

What information do I need to provide?

You will need the following information:

  • The name of the individual that qualifies for VAT Relief
  • The address of the individual that qualifies for VAT Relief

What conditions do I (the customer) have to meet?

You (or the individual you are purchasing the goods for) must meet the following criteria

  • You are chronically sick or disabled and
  • You are buying the products for your (or the person who's disabled) personal or domestic use

You can purchase goods & claim VAT relief on behalf of another person, but we will require some personal information (of the individual you are buying for) at checkout.

What qualifies as being "chronically sick or disabled"?

The following qualifies as being chronically sick or disabled:

  • You have a physical or mental impairment which has a long-term and substantial adverse effect upon your ability to carry out everyday activities
  • You have a condition that the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness, such as diabetes or Alzheimer's disease
  • You have a terminal illness

Common examples of chronic disabilities include (but are not limited to); Alzheimer's, any form of dementia, Parkinson's, arthritis, blindness, deafness, physical disability.

Temporary disabilities such as broken bones, or even postoperative confusion, are not classed as chronic disabilities or impairments.

If you are in any doubt regarding your (or the person you're purchasing for) condition, please ask your GP whether it is a chronic or acute impairment.

A great step in the right direction. Thank you.

My mother was continuously getting in a muddle with the TV remote as her dementa progressed, to the point where she forgot how to use it and even when set up so it just needed a one button press, the wrong buttons would be pressed and all hell would break loose.

This simple on/off + high/low volume + channel change remote has meant she can now use her TV again. So far so good anyway.

Nothing short of a godsend. Easy to use and explain. Tuning with TV took less than 10 mins. It helps if you read the instructions properly first. I didn't otherwise it would have taken 5 mins. Delivery arrived bang on time. Thanks.

Cracking service

I brought this 'simple' remote for my Mum who's 81 and was really struggling with the normal TV remote, its funny but the remote is never seen until after you buy a TV yet its the greatest and most frequently used tool for Human computer interaction that there is but you do not know what you will get until you open the box!

The ALZ remote was simple to set up, by me and Mum has now used it for just 4 days but tells me its great. The need to scroll through each channel rather than use the EPG service is a small loss to the ease at which she uses the remote now so I doubt I will get any more calls saying the TV's not working.

Good value and works well

Purchased for my mother who like most of us was confused with all the buttons on the two remotes. With the extra instructions managed to set it up fairly easily. Only minor crib it that we still have to use the main TV remote to switch it on, then the HandleEasy can be used for all main functions.

excellent but for 1 thing. If your existing remotes can only select a channel with 3 digits it makes it impossible to set the 321RC to a default channel for when the users gets lost on the up and down buttons

Remote itself is excellent BUT the instructions are AWFUL!! Please, please translate to non-technical language. No way could I interpret it, no dementia person could ever, and neither could I manage with those instructions. My husband is an engineer, he managed after some false starts. Just so not clear. Please change them.
